All those who suffer from frequent migraine attacks know very well that such an attack can, in addition to being very painful, also result in the loss of the rest or the next 1-2 days. So some tips to avoid a migraine attack:
- Proper and healthy diet, good hydration (>1.5 liters of water), enough night sleep.
- Exercise three times a week for an hour.
- Find the foods (eg chocolate, cheese) or alcoholic drinks (especially red wine) that trigger your migraines and avoid them.
Or if a crisis has already occurred:
- If you know that a medicine helps your headache you should take it IMMEDIATELY when the pain starts. Many times patients delay taking it believing that it might go away without treatment.
- Caution! Avoid abusing painkillers. They may relieve you at the time you take them, but in the long run they lead to the worsening of your migraine.
It would generally be helpful to keep a headache diary, where you record the days of pain, intensity and medications taken.
