The device is an external neurostimulator (current stimulation) of the terminal branches of the trigeminal nerve (supratrochian and supraorbital nerves in the forehead above the eyebrows) which we know is associated with the pathophysiology of migraine.
The device works by applying an electrode to the forehead and by activating a button the stimulation starts either to deal with the pain crisis (1 hour per pain) or for the preventive treatment of migraines (20 minutes daily). There are studies on thousands of patients that confirm the positive effect on migraine pain.
The device is available in the practice and the patient can try it on and ask about it, but it is not available for sale in the practice. If the patient wishes, he orders the device himself from a Greek agency and receives it at home the next day.
